Spring 2013 Contest Date changed To Weekend of April 5th – 7th

The Spring Fifty Hour Film Contest will be held the weekend of March 29th to the 31st.

Due to a conflict with the Easter Holiday I have moved the date of the spring 50 back one week. It will now take place the weekend of April 5th- 7th.

The prompt will be the same for both the Vermont and Albany Area participants.

Albany Prompt

Since we don’t have many teams registered for this fall’s fifty I am going to use the fall VT prompt and combine the two contests. If you are competing from Albany your prompt is:

***** Below is the Prompt for the Fall 2012 50 Hour Film Contest *****
Click here for a printable PDF file of this prompt

Your Prop: Eggs

The prop MUST make a clear appearance in the film to qualify for judging. The level of integration of the prop into the film’s plot is completely up to the film team.

Your Character: A Waiter or Waitress

This character a waiter or waitress must be physically shown in the film in some way and not just talked about. ie “My dad used to wait tables when he was in college” doesn’t work.

Your Required Dialogue:

  • One is none, two is one.
  • I am a lover, and a fighter
  • Get off my back
  • I’ll text you later
  • Take it easy
  • What did I do wrong?
  • I just want to make sure we understand each other

You must use five of the lines above! This dialogue must be kept in intact sentences or phrases , but the order, the timing or usage of these sentences is entirely up to your group. These five sentences MUST be able to be heard clearly in the final movie.

Your Genre: Sports Film

Definition of the sports genre for the purposes of this 50 from “filmsite.org”:

Films that may have a sports setting (football or baseball stadium, arena, or the Olympics, etc.), event (the big game, fight, race, or competition), and/or athlete (boxer, racer, surfer, etc.) that are central and predominant in the story. Sports films may be fictional or non-fictional; and they are a hybrid sub-genre category, although they are often dramas or comedy films, and occasionally documentaries or biopics.

A list of popular sports films for reference:

  • Million Dollar Baby
  • Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
  • Cars
  • Chariots of Fire
  • Rudy
  • Bend it like Beckham
  • The Sandlot
  • The Big Lebowski

As always refrain from any filming of nudity, strong language or other behavior that wouldn’t be able to be shown on Broadcast TV.

Good luck and have fun! Any questions email tom.preska@gmail.com
